A symbol of everlasting love, eternity bands are just as much of a promise of commitment as an engagement ring or wedding ring. Whether it’s a diamond eternity ring or one adorned with gemstones, the eternity ring meaning is to represent ever-lasting love.
If you’ve ever wondered about the history of eternity rings, they have been around for over 4,000 years and were first found in Ancient Egypt made from bone, beads and occasionally metal. Based on the symbol of infinity, the circular shape of an eternity band historically represents the circle of life.
“Our Beaverbrooks eternity rings are embellished with breathtaking diamonds, hand-selected with the love, care and confidence of our experts. We take the time to consider every detail when crafting your eternity ring, to ensure that every aspect is absolutely perfect, from the meticulous cut of every diamond, the fit and feel of the eternity band.”

Eternity rings are traditionally given to mark significant milestones in a relationship. Symbolising the circle of life, the design, meaning and materials used in an eternity band mean that they’re curated to last forever, just like the bond that you and your loved one share.
Eternity bands can be embellished with a variety of gemstones too, such as an emerald and diamond eternity ring, a ruby and diamond eternity ring, or a sapphire and diamond eternity ring, making them the perfect gift for the birth of your first-born child, a special birthday, your wedding anniversary, or as an extra thoughtful Valentine’s Day gift to love for a lifetime.

How to wear an eternity ring
Two of the most common questions when it comes to wearing this special ring are which order do you wear your engagement, wedding and eternity ring, and which finger do you wear an eternity ring on?
Tradition states it’s your wedding ring first, engagement ring second and then finally your eternity ring – all sitting on the fourth finger of your left hand, known as your ring finger.
Truth is though, it’s completely up to you. Some people like to wear their eternity ring on top of their wedding ring, with the engagement ring on last. Others feel like the three rings on one finger can feel too much so tend to wear their eternity ring separately on their right hand. If all three rings are going to be sat next to each other, we advise to go for the same precious metal so that they wear evenly over time.
If you’re wondering how to wear your forever rings together beautifully, read How To Match Your Wedding Band To Your Engagement Ring on our blog.
“When it comes to choosing the precious metal for your eternity ring, we suggest going for the same as your wedding ring and engagement ring. This allows your rings to wear evenly over time, especially if they’re going to be worn next to each other!”
