Before Jacob & Co. owner Jacob Arabo had a small booth in New York’s diamond district, designing jewellery collections for brands and clients. It wasn’t until 1986 that Jacob Arabo founded Jacob & Co. as a luxury brand. Jacob & Co. originally designed and manufactured fine jewellery, although the founder always maintained a vision of producing luxury watches. Once an established jewellery brand, Jacob & Co. expanded into the world of watches in 2001, firstly incorporating quartz movements into their timepieces. A few years later, the brand started to incorporate Swiss-made movements into Jacob & Co. timepieces, and have been renowned for their innovative creations, famed for models such as the Jacob & Co. Roulette watch and Jacob & Co. Astronomia ever since.

Jacob & Co. owner Jacob Arabo started his journey in the world of fine jewellery and watches in the United States as an apprentice watchmaker, learning about the mechanisms and parts of a watch. Jacob Arabo then delved into the world of jewellery, working in a factory to assemble jewellery pieces, before then designing his own pieces and styles from his bedroom. After developing a strong client base of brands and private clients, he opened a small booth in New York’s diamond district. In 1986, he founded Jacob & Co., putting his own name against his fine jewellery designs. Once Jacob & Co. had become an established brand, the company started to design and produce luxury watches, the start of a watchmaking legacy as we know them by now.

All Jacob & Co. watches are Swiss-made in Geneva. The luxury watch and fine jewellery brand is from New York, and when Jacob & Co. first produced watches, the were operated by non-Swiss quartz movements. However, when the brand became more established as a luxury watchmaker, Jacob & Co. partnered with a Swiss boutique watchmaking firm, when Jacob Arabo designed the world’s first vertical tourbillon with a power reserve of 31 days. Jacob & Co.’s aim to create watches that the world had never seen before were seen as high risk to many Swiss watchmakers, although the brand achieved many successes. Notably with the Jacob & Co. Astronomia and the Jacob & Co. Epic X Skeleton collections, all created with Swiss movements.
