How to Measure Wrist Size for a Watch
Our printable guide (actual size) shares seven steps for how to measure for a watch strap and find your wrist size. Discover how to measure your watch size at home and get to know your watch band measurements for a flawless fit.
But first, it’s key to know that there are different types of straps and bracelets which require different methods of watch strap fitting:
Metal bracelets:
It’s estimated that the average male wrist size is 18.42cm or 184.2mm. For women, the average wrist size is between 15cm-16cm or 150 – 160mm.

Leather & Nato straps:
Watches with a leather or nato strap come with punched holes, so you can adjust the size yourself.
Shop Leather & Nato Straps1. Download and print off our wrist size chart on A4 paper and check with a ruler it’s printed to scale, or have a ruler or piece of string to hand to measure your wrist size for a watch strap.
2. If measuring your wrist with our wrist size chart, cut around the sizer tool. Or skip this step if measuring your watch size with a ruler and piece of string.
3. If using our wrist size chart to measure your wrist, punch a hole through each marked X and cut along the dotted line between them to make a slit.
4. Next, if using our wrist size chart, place the size guide around your wrist like a bracelet, and pull the pointed end through the slot. If measuring your watch size with a piece of string, wrap the string around your wrist and mark where the ends meet.
5. When measuring your wrist size, make sure the watch size guide or piece of string has a snug fit with enough room to fit your index finger underneath.
6. The final step for using our wrist size chart, find your millimetre measurement by reading where the arrow is pointing to. If using a piece of string to measure your watch strap size, then place the end next to the bottom of the ruler, and see where the marked section on the string meets the millimetre reading on the ruler.
